1. East Renfrewshire Plans developed to restore a stretch of industrialised river channel on the Levern Water in Barrhead to reconnect the river to its natural floodplain. Two 18th century weirs would be modified and lowered to allow salmon upstream for the first time since Victorian times
2. Derby Last year, Derby approved the largest urban rewilding project in the UK. They will convert 130ha of Allestree Park into a mosaic of habitats and reintroduce red kites and harvest mice
3. Coventry Coventry has several early-stage rewilding projects including the conversion of post-industrial sites into habitat for invertebrates and other wildlife
4. North Somerset In 2019, the council embarked on a programme to rewild as much land as possible after it declared a nature emergency. The authority has also created a rewilding champion programme
5. Brighton and Hove Brighton is rewilding a former golf course to restore wildflower meadows near the city
