Saturday 20 November

1. On Saturday 20 November Bobbi-Anne McLeod, 18, left her home in the Leigham area of Plymouth at 5.45pm planning to catch a bus to see her boyfriend.

2. Between 6pm and 6.15pm she was seen at the bus stop on Bampton Road. Phone data put Cody Ackland in the area at around the same time. He got out of his car and struck McLeod on the head with a claw hammer. He left her but returned a few minutes later and bundled her into the footwell of his car.

3. He drove to a car park at Bellever Forest on Dartmoor, arriving at about 7.45pm, and carried out a frenzied hammer attack on her. Police believe she died here.

4. Ackland put McLeod’s body in his car boot and drove to a wooded lane leading to Bovisand beach. He stripped the body and dumped it 15ft down a steep bank at about 9.15pm. He returned home and went to bed.

Sunday 21 November

5. Ackland drove to the village of Tamerton Foliot and threw the hammer into a river and a carrier bag containing blood-stained clothing into allotments.

Later on Sunday, he went into Plymouth, had a pizza, attended a band practice and drank into the early hours of Monday 22 November. Friends reported he seemed happier than usual.

Monday 22 November

On Monday he went to a cinema to see a sci-fi film.

Tuesday 23 November

6. At 1.30pm Ackland walked into Charles Cross police station, Plymouth, and gave himself up.
