The climate crisis is here, and without action, will worsen. As part of this year’s Great Big Green Week (24 September - 2 October), the National Trust in collaboration with The Climate Coalition, is encouraging the public to write letters to tomorrow, explaining their hopes and fears for our planet’s future, to inspire more action to protect the environment. It can be addressed to a child in your life, a loved one, or even to a future version of yourself …
How long should the letter be?
Writing a letter doesn't have to take up lots of your time. Yours can be as long or as short as you choose – we recommend between 100 and 200 words.
What should it say?
Think about why you’re writing this letter. Imagine you’re writing to someone in the year 2030. What hopes do you have for them, and what do you want the world they live in to look like? What do you want to see happen now to make that future a reality?
What will happen to the letters?
All letters will be shared with politicians, to highlight the public’s desire to see more action on climate breakdown. The aim is to share the letters with the prime minister and leader of the opposition for years to come to ensure people’s hopes and dreams for action remain front and centre.
