A sustainable journey: how Velux is improving its green credentials

Decisive action is needed to halve CO2 emissions in the next 10 years, so Velux is on a mission to reduce its products’ environmental impact. Already, the brand has made great strides: Velux roof windows are made with almost 100% sustainably certified wood, and they can be disassembled and recycled at their end of life. The plastic packaging for these roof windows will also be replaced by recyclable paper-based cardboard. Most importantly, Velux products are highly durable, and can be maintained, upgraded and repaired for generations to come.

Looking ahead, Velux has pledged it will reduce emissions from its direct operations to zero and halve its value chain emissions by 2030. At the same time, Velux goes above and beyond its value chain and invests in nature-based solutions to address its historical CO2. Through climate and biodiversity projects in some of the world’s biodiversity hotspots, Velux will capture its historical carbon footprint. Along with the deep emission cuts, this will make Velux Lifetime Carbon Neutral in 2041, at its 100-year anniversary.
