Fish by numbers

As the nation becomes increasingly aware of the benefits of shortening the supply chain, close to half of UK adults would buy more seafood if they knew it was caught in UK waters. But how do those numbers look across England?

South-east and London: Almost half (47%) of those living in the south-east and 50% living in London say they’d be more likely to buy seafood if it was caught in UK waters.

Bristol: 43% of Bristolians are more likely to buy locally caught seafood.

East of England and Manchester: 46% of those living in the east of England and Manchester would be more likely to buy seafood if it was caught in UK waters.

Newcastle: The most patriotic fish-eaters live in Newcastle upon Tyne, where three in five adults say they’d be more likely to buy seafood if they knew it was caught in UK waters.

Birmingham, Yorkshire and the Humber: Almost half of residents living in these areas say they’d be more likely to buy seafood if it was caught in UK waters.
