Smart Energy GB is working with WWF. Our planet and its wildlife are under threat from climate change. Part of the solution to tackling the climate and nature crisis is to upgrade our outdated energy system. Smart meters are part of the solution to decarbonising our electricity grid and a step towards making Britain’s energy network greener.

The more that the grid can flex and manage supply and demand for power, the better able it is to maximise the use of renewable and other low-carbon generation to power the UK. If all homes are connected to smart meters, then what we can do on a local level in our own homes with smart technology – adjusting our power use to the cheapest or cleanest generating times – the grid can do on a national level. It’s just one of the small changes we can each make that will help the overall system.
