Note for reading this map: The nearest clinic in many cases may be found across state lines, but considering another recent ruling in Mississippi that declared a state cannot abdicate its responsibility for abortion services to another state, we consider only Texas clinics on this map.

El Paso and west Texas
The last abortion clinic in El Paso was slated to close on Monday, September 1, but has been given a temporary repreive by judge Yeakel. The appeal is pending. If his decision is overturned by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the next closest in-state clinic will be 550 miles away, in San Antonio – a 7.5h drive according to Google Maps
Rio Grande Valley
After HB2's admitting privileges provision went into effect last November, all three clinics in south Texas – or the Rio Grande Valley as the region is known – were forced to cut abortion services. The cuts have left women in the area without nearby access to abortion care; the closest clinic, also in San Antonio, is up to a 250-mile or 3.75 hour drive from Harlingen, Texas
I-35 and I-45 corridors
If the ambulatory care center requirement is upheld by the Firth Circuit Court of Appeals, all but six to seven of Texas' 22 abortion clinics will have to close. The remaining clinics will be clustered in major cities along the I-35 and I-45 corridors. In his decision, judge Yeakel noted the clinic closures may disproportionately affect low-income women outside of Texas' large cities
